Located on the outskirts of Newport, Garn Wen has undergone a significant change in recent times. The farm, once heavily grazed and compacted, has been left to rest from grazing, allowing the beginnings of a diverse mosaic landscape to emerge. Real Wild Estates is now providing guidance to ensure the farm’s ecological restoration and to advise on fostering vibrant wood pasture and meadow habitats, encouraging species such as cuckoo and pied flycatcher back into the landscape. A short-term strategy to achieve this goal has been agreed, and the support from Real Wild Estates will continue as an ongoing resource, offering a guiding hand whenever needed.
